How to Make an Estimate

  1. 1

    Describe the Job

Name the project, then fill in your details and your client's. Set how long the price is good for.

  2. 2

    Price the Work

One line for each part of the job: a description, the quantity or hours, and the rate. Add tax and a deposit if you ask for one.

  3. 3

    Download and Send

Confirm your email and the PDF downloads. The estimate is saved to your free per.hr account, where it can become an invoice once you win the job.

Won the job? Make the invoice, or let per.hr track the time and bill it for you.

Questions

Is the Estimate Generator Really Free?

Yes. Confirm your email once (or continue with Google) and download as many estimates as you like. Each one is saved to your free per.hr account with its client, where you can edit it, download it again or turn it into an invoice.

What's the Difference Between an Estimate and a Quote?

An estimate is your best price for the job, which can change as the work becomes clearer. A quote is a fixed price the client can hold you to. This generator works for both: call it what fits, and spell out what's included in Scope and Terms.

What Should an Estimate Include?

Your name or business and contact details, your client's, the job, each item with its quantity and rate, any tax, the total, how long the price is good for, any deposit to start, and what's included. A signature line lets the client accept it on paper.

Can My Client Accept It Online?

With per.hr Pro, yes. Send the saved estimate from your account and your client accepts, declines or asks for changes from a link. An accepted estimate becomes an invoice in a click, with a deposit invoice if you asked for one. On the free plan, send the PDF yourself; the signature line lets your client accept it on paper.

Why Do You Ask for My Email?

Your email is your free per.hr account: the estimate and its client are saved there, and you can come back to them anytime. Confirming it keeps the generator free of abuse. We only send tips and product news if you tick the box, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
