Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours. 2 hours 45 minutes is 2 + 45 ÷ 60 = 2.75 hours.
Multiply the decimal part by 60. 3.6 hours is 3 hours plus 0.6 × 60 = 36 minutes, or 3:36.
Decimal hours multiply cleanly by an hourly rate: 2.75 hours at $80 per hour is $220. Hours and minutes (2:45) have to be converted first.
0.25 hours. 30 minutes is 0.5, 45 minutes is 0.75, and 6 minutes is 0.1.
